Java Brown Arabica coffee is best grown 1150 to 1700 m altitude above sea level. It excels best characteristics under certain quality of soil and temperature and it has only half of the caffeine content than that of Robusta. Due to the high region that Arabica coffee can be grown, it develops the highest quality coffee in the world, but in contrast, it also has the most complicated character.

As compare to Arabica coffee, Robusta is easier to be cultivated and maintained as it has strong resistance to botanical diseases and rough handling. It is also more tolerant of cold weather and grows well in a wider range of altitudes. Robusta takes a shorter time to harvest and at each harvest season, it produces more coffee than Arabica. More than 80% of Indonesia's coffee production is Robusta.
